Sponsor How They Scaled
Put your dev tool in front of backend, infra and platform engineers at the exact moment they're reading how teams like Discord, Shopify, OpenAI and Figma scaled their Postgres, Kafka and sharding setups.
Just launched. howtheyscaled.com went live in October 2026 and the newsletter is just getting started, so the audience is small today and we won't pad the numbers. What exists now: 73 hand-checked "how we scaled" case studies from 26 companies, searchable by stack, technique and scale, with new stories added on weekdays. Every visitor is someone researching how to scale a backend: a small audience, but exactly your buyer. We'll share real traffic and subscriber stats every month, and if a month underdelivers badly, we extend your slot for free.
Founding Sponsor
- Site slot: your logo, a one-line pitch and a link on every story page, plus a homepage mention. One sponsor per category, so you're never next to a competitor.
- Newsletter slot: a 40-60 word sponsored block (written by you or by us) near the top of every weekly issue during your month.
- Category match (optional): e.g. "Postgres stories presented by YourTool", shown only on matching stories.
- Monthly report: page views, sponsor clicks, newsletter sends, opens and clicks.
Smaller options
- Site-only: $49/month
- Newsletter-only: $39/month, or $15 per issue
- Founding 3-month prepay: $199 (about 16% off)
After the 6-month founding period, pricing moves to a CPM or flat rate based on real numbers, with 30 days' notice.
About How They Scaled
How They Scaled (howtheyscaled.com) is a searchable database of real "how we scaled" engineering write-ups from teams like OpenAI, Discord, Shopify, Figma and Stripe, filterable by stack, technique and scale. It comes with a weekly newsletter for backend, infra and platform engineers. Readers come to learn sharding, replication, queues, caching and migrations from people who did it in production. Founding sponsors get a slot on every story page plus the weekly newsletter from $79/month, with honest monthly stats.
The rules
We only take dev, infra and data tools that are relevant to readers. Every placement is clearly labeled "Sponsor" and links use rel="sponsored". Sponsors get no editorial control over our case studies. Billing is invoiced at the start of each month.
